Praying for More of What Jesus Came to Give
Here are some of the things Jesus says He came to give. It's okay to pray for these things. It's okay to even ask for more. In fact, it's good to pray for these and to expect Jesus to provide them in time.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)
It's good to pray for rest for your soul.
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)
It's good to pray for peace in your heart, even while you have trouble in your life.
If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:36)
It's good to pray for such freedom.
I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)
It's good to pray for the experience of abundant life given in Jesus.
These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. (John 15:11)
It's good to pray for the joy Jesus had to fill up that place in us that longs for such joy.
Do we pray for such things? If we need them, why not pray for them?
Jesus says He came to give us these things. But He likes to be asked, so that His gift draws us closer to Him.
So don't be afraid: ask, ask for more, and keep asking. These are things Jesus says He came to give us.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You have said that You came to give us rest for our souls. Lord, I need rest for my soul. And You have said You came to make us free and to give us life abundantly. Lord Jesus, I long to be truly and fully free; I long for my life to overflow with Your presence. You say that You want Your joy to be in us. Lord, I want Your joy to be in me too! Holy Spirit, please deliver and multiply what Jesus came to give in me Your servant. Father, hear my prayer. In Jesus' Name and for His glory, Amen.
